Privacy Policy

Desknook is designed with your privacy as a priority. The App:

• Does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers
• Does not use analytics, telemetry, or tracking services
• Does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or similar technologies
• Does not share any data with third parties
• Does not require account creation or user registration

All data created and used by the App is stored exclusively on your device using macOS local storage mechanisms (UserDefaults and App Group containers). This includes:

• Your dashboard layout and app arrangement preferences
• Custom websites you add to the dashboard
• Favorited and pinned applications
• Keyboard shortcut assignments
• Language preferences
• Cached website icons (favicons)
• Widget configurations
• Browser preference settings

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

The App makes limited network requests solely to provide its core functionality:

• Web browsing: When you open a website through the App, standard web requests are made to load the requested page. These requests are handled by Apple’s WKWebView framework and are equivalent to browsing in Safari.
• Favicon loading: The App downloads website icons (favicons) from the websites you add to your dashboard, including from Google’s public favicon service, to display them in the App interface.

No user data, device information, or usage statistics are transmitted during these requests.

The App provides access to Google Workspace services (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.) and other websites through an embedded web browser. When you use these services through the App, you are subject to the respective privacy policies of those services (e.g., Google’s Privacy Policy). We do not intercept, modify, or store any data you exchange with these services beyond what is cached locally by the web browser component.

The embedded web browser (WKWebView) may store cookies and web data locally on your device as part of normal web browsing functionality. This data is managed by Apple’s WebKit framework and remains on your device. You can clear this data by removing the App.

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected, no special provisions for children’s data are necessary.

Since all data is stored locally on your device, it is protected by your device’s built-in security features, including macOS file system encryption (FileVault) and your user account password. We recommend keeping your operating system up to date to benefit from the latest security protections.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Effective Date” at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
